Data Security Incident, update as at 14 August 2025,
TB HIV Care (THC) has identified and contained a data security incident that occurred on 28 July 2025. The matter arose from an internal error during routine information processing, resulting in certain employee personal information being unintentionally shared with an unauthorised recipient.
The incident was identified quickly, and immediate steps were taken to contain it within an hour of being reported and to secure the affected systems. At this stage, there is no indication of malicious intent.
In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA), THC is in the process of notifying all affected individuals. The Information Regulator has been informed. A dedicated support channel has been established to address queries and assist those affected.
We wish to notify staff currently and previously employed by THC in the period January 2022 – December 2023 to contact our offices as this incident is related to information from their period of employment. Contact our Human Resources Department as follows:
