Our leadership team

Prof. Harry Hausler is the Chief Executive Officer of TB HIV Care and has served on the board since 2007. Harry is a family physician, HIV clinician and preventive medicine specialist with more than 30 years of international public health experience implementing and evaluating integrated tuberculosis (TB) and HIV programs.

Harry has a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and a PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Prior to working with TB HIV Care, he worked with the Global TB Programme of the World Health Organization in Geneva and as the National TB/HIV Technical Advisor in the South African Department of Health. He has also managed medical services in refugee camps in Rwanda and conducted research on TB preventive treatment and prevention of mother to child transmission in Haiti.
Harry served as a member of the World Health Organisation Civil Society Task Force on TB from 2019 to 2023 and the Chair of the Civil Society Forum (CSF) and Co-Chair of the Provincial Council on AIDS and TB in the Western Cape from 2021 to 2024. He is a member of the National TB Think Tank, the CSF TB Task Team and TB Technical Working Group of the South African National AIDS Council.

Alex has worked in the legal environment since 2016. She began her career as a candidate attorney at a medium-sized law firm in Johannesburg, where she gained practical experience in litigation and conveyancing. She then moved into the corporate sector, providing in-house legal advice with a focus on managing legal risks and ensuring ongoing compliance within the Information Science and Technology (IST) sector.

In 2020, Alex relocated to Cape Town and joined TB HIV Care as the organisation’s sole legal officer. In this role, she focused on commercial drafting and funder compliance, and led key initiatives such as the development of a compliance framework and the implementation of a privacy programme. In 2022, she was promoted to Grants and Legal Manager. Her current responsibilities include mitigating legal risk exposure, staying up to date with legal developments, managing contractual dispute resolution and litigation risks, advising on corporate best practices, and providing legal guidance throughout the organisation. She also oversees sub-recipient financial and compliance matters.

She holds a BCom Law degree from the University of Pretoria (2013) and an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand. She was admitted as an attorney in 2018.

Amanda Kweyama joined TB HIV Care in 2022 and is the Human Resources Director. Amanda oversees the HR department, which includes wellness, talent acquisition and retention and employee relations

Amanda has an honours degree in Human Resource Management and Industrial Psychology. She has significant and very relevant experience working within the non-profit health sector.

Amanda is a dedicated and passionate HR professional who believes that partnering with a business or organisational needs is key for the success and integration of the HR process within the organisation.

She is passionate about people and believes the employee is central to our organisation and the services we offer. She believes that a good balance between employer and employee engagement is critical to ensure the success of any organisation.

Sandile Prusente is TB HIV Care’s Care and Treatment Programme Director. In this role, he provides leadership, operational and strategic direction to the programme and collaborates closely with funders and the Eastern Cape Department of Health.

Sandile has a nursing background with diplomas in general, community, midwifery and psychiatric nursing sciences. He is a public health specialist (MSc Med) with more than 12 years of experience in clinical and research programmes.

In 2007, Sandile joined the Foundation for Professional Development (FPD) as a nurse clinician (HIV/TB) and later worked with the International Centre for Aids Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP) in patient clinical management.

Sandile joined TB HIV Care in 2009. He served in various positions including as a site manager (Mthatha) and a regional manager (Eastern Cape) (HTS/PP Prev). In 2018, he was responsible for technical support as the clinical technical lead for the Care and Treatment Programme. Sandile’s goal has always been to provide sound leadership that creates an enabling work environment for all those in need of development.

Mfezi is TB HIV Care’s Key Populations Programme Director and leads the strategic direction for providing a comprehensive HIV prevention package of services to sex workers and people who inject drugs (PWID) across different provinces in the country.

Mfezi has more than ten years of experience in programme coordination within the HIV/AIDS field and has worked with both the South African Police Service and orphaned and vulnerable children.

Mfezi has a BA in Social Work and Diploma in HIV Management. He joined TB HIV Care in 2014 as the Sex Worker Project Coordinator in Nelson Mandela Bay. He was promoted to Site Manager in the HIV Prevention Programme, where he focused on comprehensive HIV prevention, care and support to sex workers and people who use drugs (PWUD). He also led and implemented research projects focusing on female sex workers operating in Nelson Mandela Bay.

Jenny Mcloughlin is TB HIV Care’s Priority Populations Prevention (PPPrev) Programme Director. In this role, she will provide leadership, operational and strategic direction to the programme and continues to collaborate closely with funders and the Department of Health.

Jenny has a nursing background and has worked in the NGO field and the South African public health system for more than 30 years.

Jenny has been responsible for PEPFAR-funded programmes involving multiple partners for more than ten years, first at the University of the Western Cape, where she was responsible for the coordination of projects and budget management. In 2009, Jenny joined TB HIV Care (THC) as a site manager (Harry Gwala), where the funded project known as “Project Integrate” won an Impumelelo Social Innovations Platinum Award. Jenny has served the organisation in various positions, including as a re-engineering primary health care (PHC) specialist, quality improvement advisor and a technical lead.

Jenny’s goal has always been to improve health outcomes by expanding the role of community agents who work in teams with health professionals in designated catchment areas. This was born out of the re-engineering PHC model, based on a ward system started in KwaZulu-Natal.

Dynamic and results-driven healthcare professional with over 20 years of experience in clinical nursing, operational management and NGO program leadership. Currently serving as a Project Manager at TB HIV Care, she leads strategic health initiatives focused on improving TB and HIV outcomes across key populations.

She has held senior roles in both the public and non-profit sectors, including Area Manager at Anova Health Institute and Operational Manager at Elsies River CHC, where she helped expand HIV, TB, and primary healthcare services. She also serves as Deputy Chairperson of the Western Cape Health Sector at the SANAC Civil Society Forum, contributing to policy advocacy, civil society coordination, and health sector planning.

A qualified Personal Development and Executive Coach, she is passionate about leadership development, mentorship, and capacity building within the health workforce. Her work is grounded in a commitment to quality assurance, stakeholder engagement, and community-centered care.

Nomzamo holds an Executive and Management Coaching qualification from the University of Cape Town (2024) and a Management Development Programme certificate from Wits Business School (2023). She also completed the Health Leadership Programme at UCT (2015) and earned a certificate in Epidemiology and Control of HIV/AIDS, TB & Malaria (2017).
Her academic background includes a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Management (2013) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Health Care Nursing (2009) Cum Laude, both from Stellenbosch University. She obtained her B. Cur Nursing Degree from the University of the Western Cape in 2003 and further pursued a Higher Certificate in Christian Ministry through the Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary.

Arno Olivier is the Information and Technology Manager. Arno guides TB HIV Care’s technology adoption and implementation and plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day running – and success – of our projects and programmes. An accomplished IT professional with a love for harnessing technology to drive operational excellence, streamline processes and elevate productivity, Arno joined TB HIV Care after more than 16 years in the construction and mining sectors. With a particular passion for intricate, ever-changing environments, Arno is well-placed for his new role in the public health/NGO space.

Aziel’s academic background reflects both breadth and depth across public health, law, strategic communications, and leadership. He holds the following advanced degrees; a Master’s in Theology: Gender, Religion & Health (Cum Laude), a Post-Graduate Diploma in South African Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Media & Cultural Studies (Honors). In addition, he earned a Bachelor of Technology in Public Relations Management (Cum Laude), a Diploma in Project Management (PMBOK) (Cum Laude), and a Diploma in Human Resource Management & Training (Cum Laude). He is currently enrolled in a Masters in Public Health Program at the University of the Witwatersrand majoring in health systems and policy.
