Investing in South Africa’s financial leaders

A corporate sponsorship opportunity to develop future CA(SA) graduates through real-world global health finance experience

The opportunity

South Africa produces some of the world’s most respected Chartered Accountants (CAs). The journey to becoming a CA(SA) requires years of rigorous academic study, a SAICA-accredited postgraduate qualification, and a structured training contract, followed by two professional board examinations. It is one of the most demanding professional pathways in the country, and its graduates are sought after across the private and public sectors.

Yet at the same time, the non-profit and public health sectors urgently need sophisticated financial talent to manage complex international funding streams that support life-saving programmes at scale. These organisations oversee multi-million-rand budgets, donor compliance requirements, and high-stakes reporting environments, but often struggle to attract and retain early-career financial professionals.

We invite forward-thinking donors to help bridge this gap by funding a transformative 12-month Professional Development Programme. The programme places accounting graduates within TB HIV Care, one of South Africa’s most established and internationally recognised public health organisations.

What will graduates gain?

Experience in local and international grant fund management

Experience in transatlantic agreements and programmatic budgets at scale

Grant budget preparation and management experience

Exposure to and application of corporate governance principles

Why this matters?

South Africa’s public health sector manages billions of Rands in international funding annually, yet faces a critical shortage of financial professionals who understand both the technical demands of the CA(SA) qualification and the unique complexities of global health finance. By sponsoring this programme, your organisation will:

Building distinguished careers

Graduates who complete this programme will emerge with credentials that set them apart in any sector.

They will understand how programmatic impact translates into financial reporting.

They will have collaborated with international partners across time zones and regulatory environments.

Whether these graduates ultimately pursue careers in corporate finance, international development, government, or establish their own practices, this experience will serve as a powerful foundation, and your sponsorship will have made it possible.
