February is Sexual and Reproductive Health and Healthy Lifestyle Month in South Africa. It includes Condom Week, which ran from 12 to 18 February 2024.
TB HIV Care’s SRH, STI Awareness and Condom Week activities hoped to address declining condom use as we encouraged people to be CondomWise!
Our programmes all participated in SRH Month and Condom Week, focusing on topics like HIV prevention (including PrEP), teenage pregnancy, and negative attitudes and myths around condom use.
Activities included radio spots in the Eastern Cape, where our Social Worker, Phakama Mda, did a series of radio spots on Vukani Community Radio and Ngqushwa FM discussing:
- 31 Jan: Protect yourself, protect your partner (Vukani)
- 5 Feb: Protect yourself, protect your partner (Ngqushwa)
- 7 Feb: ‘Knowing Your Why’ (Vukani)
- 14 Feb: Peer Pressure (Vukani)
